Right now, we are in the middle of July. I got some days off from school so I'm focusing my time in finishing some open projects I have in my mind for a long time.
Yesterday my brother-in-law was here in my home, helping me to do a logo for one of these projects. I can't talk much about it now, but I can say this project already is one of my babies. More information coming soon. Stay tuned.
But, as I was saying before, we're in the middle of July and unfortunately, we're still months away from Christmas (the best time of the year, I must say). Well, it doesn't matter, as I always say to my wife "after July, it's Christmas". Of course, I'm just kidding, but it's just to show you how Christmas is a BIG thing for me.
Some weeks ago, on a Saturday night to be more specific, I and my wife were skipping channels on tv, searching for something to watch, when we found "Home Alone ("Esqueceram de Mim" in Brazillian Portuguese) on a channel. I can't remember what channel it was. Anyway, we ended up watching it (again) and I decided to write on or two words about it here. Just because I can.

Home Alone was released on November 16, 1990. I can't remember the first time I watched it, probably I must have rented in the local Rental Store in an old VHS tape. Strange, I should remember when it was since I'm addicted to Christmas stuff. The story is somehow interesting, but it is a very '90s kind of movie. A little kid named Kevin McCalliste (Macaulay Culkin) is left alone at home during his family Christmas trip and he must deal with a couple of burglars who want to broke into his home to robber it.

Well, if you don't know the story yet, either you're too young to know it or you weren't in the face of the Earth in the last decade. Simple as that. The movie made a big splash, it was a big hit at its time. The movie had a budget of 18 million dollars and got around 476 million dollars. It's pretty safe to say it was a success. Of course, two years later it was released the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. I already got it and I will probably re-watched later this year.
The movie is entertaining even for the nowadays standards. I watched it easily and didn't get bored (some old movies are REALLY boring to watch nowadays, but this isn't the case). It has a nice pace, and it's still fun to watch. Of course (S̶P̶O̶I̶L̶E̶R̶), in the end, we have a happy ending and the family comes back to rescue him after he had beaten the burglars alone.
The methods he uses to defeat the burglars aren't conventional, but they're pretty fun and sometimes painful to watch. In the middle of the movie, we have a very touching moment, just hours before Christmas, when the kid is in the Church and has a nice soft conversation with an old man who has fought with his son and is spending Christmas alone. I like these kinds of cheesy talks about love and peace at Christmas, it's very heartwarming.

Later this year I hope to post something just talking about Christmas itself. It's a very special moment of the year for me. About the movie, overall it's a pretty enjoyable story and if you don't know or don't remember the story, give it a chance. You may find it a very pleasant experience.
Cheers and M̶e̶r̶r̶y̶ ̶C̶h̶r̶i̶s̶t̶m̶a̶s̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶r̶y̶o̶n̶e̶.
